Wild Ecology is an independent ecological consultancy based in Mangawhai, Northland. 

We offer expert consultancy services in ecology, land restoration and sustainable development planning throughout Northland and Auckland Regions. Our work covers a broad range of projects in both rural and urban contexts and includes land subdivisions, public infrastructure projects and ecological restoration.

From the initial site visit to discuss your project needs, to guiding you through to achieving your goals, we are here to help. Depending on the level of detail required we can provide you with a staged plan which allows you to conquer your project management aspirations one step at a time.

Our work covers primarily Auckland, Kaipara and Whangarei Districts, but we’re always up for a good roadie! We use latest technology to survey and map ecological features on your site and provide you with a wide range of informative maps created on our in-house GIS system. Our GIS capabilities can easily  integrate  CAD overlays that can streamline processes and continually improve the overall output quality.

Flora and fauna surveys surveys are at the core of our ecological services, and we can help you identify the ecological values of your site and help formulate management objectives based on our findings. We use this data to prepare comprehensive Ecological Reporting and Management Plans catering to your project’s needs.

Ecological restoration and rehabilitation projects are the heart of Wild Ecology. We can assist from planning and feasibility stages right through to detailed design and contract management for our Clients. We work collaboratively with experts in the field to ensure that your restoration project has a high success rate.

We can help you identify, classify and delineate stream and wetland habitats on your site to assist with site development design, planning and compliance, and navigate the complexities of  National Environmental Standards for Freshwater Management (2020). 

We can help you with monitoring and compliance reporting of your on-going project, which is often a requirement for resource consent. Monitoring is used to measure certain aspects of an ecosystem prior, during and after revegetation or restoration and/or development work is carried out.
